Privacy Statement

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (Brady Campaign) and the Brady Center to Prevent Handgun Violence (Brady Center) have created this privacy statement to inform site visitors of the Brady Campaign and the Brady Center's data collection and storage practices, and guidelines for use of visitor data. This privacy statement covers practices related to www.bradycampaign.org, www.bradycenter.org, and any other Web pages associated with these primary domains.

Email List Subscriptions
The Brady Campaign and the Brady Center use your email address to send you news and alerts that you have requested, including the Brady E-Action Response Network (BEAR). When subscribing to this and future email lists, the Brady Campaign or Brady Center will collect and store the personal information that you provide. However, the Brady Campaign and Brady Center will not share, rent, sell or trade any of this information.

Opt-in/Opt-Out
Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-in and opt-out of receiving communications from us through various pages on our Web site. Additionally, each and every issue of the Brady E-Action Response Network offers subscribers instructions on how to unsubscribe from the list via the Brady Campaign Web site. We cannot honor unsubscribe requests via e-mail and kindly request that you use our online form to unsubscribe.

Take Action Utility
Our "Take Action" utility allows you to fax and email your legislators through our Web site. By entering your address and zipcode, you are matched to the appropriate member of Congress. The utility that we employ allows us to log your letter and its recipient, permitting us to track how many letters are delivered to which officeholders. Your personal information, including your e-mail address will never be exchanged with other organizations, and your letter to your elected official will never be shared outside the Brady Campaign and the Brady Center.

Making a Contribution
When Web site users click a button or link to join or donate, to the Brady Campaign or Brady Center, you are directed to our form that is hosted on a secure Web server. Your personal information and the amount of your donation are stored by the Brady Campaign or Brady Center. If you choose to make a contribution with your credit card, your donation will be processed securely and in real time. Your credit card information will never be stored or misused by the Brady Campaign or Brady Center.

Technical Reporting
Our servers collect and aggregate user information site-wide, including anonymous site statistics, such as the number of views of each page. We log domain names and/or IP addresses of visitors (such as ol.com, 209.168.1.1, etc.), which permits us to know "where" visitors are from, or what access service they use, without knowing their individual identities. This "host level" tracking is one of the ways we assess Web site traffic patterns.

On certain pages such as the Brady Campaign and the Brady Center Membership Form, we give users the option of providing us with names, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, and other personal information, and various other kinds of details. This personal information is gathered only with users' knowledge, active permission and participation and will never be sold, rented, or shared.

Additionally, the Brady Campaign and Brady Center Web sites use "session cookies," that is, cookies that expire when you end your visit to the Brady Campaign or Brady Center Web site. These session cookies further allow us to assess Web site traffic patterns. Cookies will never be used on the Brady Campaign or Brady Center Web sites to extract, exchange, or otherwise misuse any personal information not explicitly supplied by you, the site visitor.
