The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence is the leading national organization committed to stopping gun violence in our communities. The Brady Center's Legal Action Project provides free legal representation to gun violence victims in lawsuits against reckless gun manufacturers, dealers, and owners. We have pioneered the use of suits by gun violence victims to challenge industry practices that lead to gun crime. Project lawyers won the first appellate decision in history holding that a gun manufacturer can be liable for negligent conduct increasing the risk of gun crime, and we have recovered over $4.4 million in damages against irresponsible gun sellers.

The Legal Action Project also files amicus curiae briefs nationwide in support of gun violence prevention laws, including a U.S. Supreme Court brief in the Second Amendment case District of Columbia v. Heller. Also, through our Gun Industry Watch program, we research and publish investigative reports exposing corrupt and dangerous gun industry practices.

Legal interns assist the Legal Action Project attorneys in:

  1. conducting legal research and writing in support of lawsuits which promote the goal of reducing gun violence,
  2. helping governmental entities defend gun laws against legal attacks,
  3. researching for our Gun Industry Watch investigative reports, and
  4. assisting with policy and legislative research.

Please check back for open internship opportunities in Fall 2009.
